Two Reasons to Use a Removals Company's Packing Service

Posted on

Here are a couple of reasons to use a removal company's packing service when moving.

1. They'll pack your items in a logical and efficient way

Packing seems like a simple task that almost anyone should be able to do. However, while most people are perfectly capable of putting objects in boxes, not everyone knows how to pack in a way that makes a house move easier. A removals team can pack your things in a very logical and efficient way that will make the transition from your current home to your next one very straightforward.

For example, if you don't have much experience with packing, you're likely to make a few mistakes. If you pack your old records into a box and then throw some cleaning sprays in on top of them before taping the box up, you may have to spend time tearing this box open, removing the sprays and retaping it, to ensure they don't soak into and ruin the records when they're being moved. Likewise, if you pack some items that you'll need during the first few hours of being in the house (like your kettle, teabags, toilet roll, etc.) at the bottom of a deep box and pile loads of other items on top of them, you'll have to waste time removing these other objects so you can access the items underneath.

In contrast, removalists will know which categories of items are or are not safe to pack in the same box. They'll also be familiar with the common objects people tend to need when they first arrive at their new homes and will usually set these aside and pack them together in one box. Because of this, your items will not only be packed very quickly but you'll also have access to the items you need when you need them.

2. The chances of your items sustaining damage will be slim to none

Using a removals company's moving service is a great way to increase the likelihood of your items arriving safe and sound at your new property. However, if you want to further increase the chances of this happening, you should also use the company's packing service. While the removals will always responsibly handle your boxed-up possessions, the contents could still get damaged if you have packed them badly.

For example, if you overfill a box with heavy books, that box's base could come undone when the removalists are holding it and the books might get damaged after they fall out. Likewise, if you don't use enough packing tissue when wrapping your glassware, some of it might shatter during transit. Removalists who have packed these types of items hundreds of times won't make these blunders, which means if you let them pack, the chances of your items being damaged at any point during transit will be slim to none.
