3 Reasons to Choose a Local Removalist

Posted on

If you're about to move for the first time in a while, then you may not have removalist contacts. You do a search and come up with a few local companies and some that service your town but that are located a bit further away.

What are the benefits of choosing a local removalist?

1. Speed and Scheduling

Local removalists know your area like the back of their hands. They work in your town every single day. This has some advantages.

For example, a local removalist is more likely to turn up on time to start your move. They know how much time to leave for traffic and when to travel to avoid delays. They know useful shortcuts to take when the roads are busy.

A local removalist can also time moves more effectively. Their schedule isn't based on ifs, buts and maybes. It's based on experience in moving around your area and of its traffic and road patterns.

2. Street and Property Knowledge

Removalists who work in your area will have moved lots of people into local properties. They already know stuff that could help make your move go more smoothly.

For example, if you're moving into a home without a driveway and the street is difficult to park in at certain times of the day, then your removalist might know this from previous moves. They could recommend that you schedule your arrival for a time when parking is less tight.

Or, if you're moving into an apartment block that has a small lift, you may worry that your removalist will have to take the stairs to get your stuff into your new home. The removalist May have worked there before and knows that you can ask the strata committee to let you use the service lift.

3. Local Reputation

It's a lot easier to find out what people think of local removalists, especially if you live in a small town. People are more likely to use local companies for a move than ones based in other towns or cities.

You can ask your family, friends and workmates if they've used any local companies to move recently. They may also have contacts who've done this. You could soon build up a picture of which removalists do the best job.

Once you know which removalists you've shortlisted, call them up and ask them to quote on your move. Once you find the right company at the right price, you're good to go.
